About Me

flower_12_edited_edited.png

I am Gabrielle Newell (she/her pronouns), a passionate organizer born and raised in Washington DC that believes we can create the society and economy we all deserve through cooperative organizing. I have worked as a crisis counselor, government leader, researcher, and community organizer.

I research and tell stories about cooperative enterprises. You can find me surfacing history from DC of radical joy, unpacking cooperative models in Spain, and learning from whoever will give me some time and space to hear their approach to creating positive change.

Born and raised in Washington DC, I believe in an economy where everyone has the ability to cultivate their talents. I am a founding organizer of Baldwin House, an affordable housing cooperative and mutual aid hub in Washington DC.

I organize young people with class privilege as a chapter leader with Resource Generation. For 10 years I have worked on government-provided programs for kids and families as a crisis counselor, researcher, and organizer.

I love hosting dreaming workshops, trainings on wealth distribution, and walking tours of D.C.
